Eriospermum alcicorne

A plant from south of Oudtshoorn. The plants grow in semi fynbos areas or Waboomsveld.

Moquinella rubra

A semi-parasitic plant that can grow on a number of hosts. This species occurs widespread from Namaqualand to the Eastern Cape Province.

Glottiphyllum regium

The holotype of this species is near Calitzdorp and according to J and A Vlok the plants are endangered and restricted to the Calitzdorp area, while other authors regard the distribution to be wider.

The long flower stalk is a characteristic of this species.

I found this rather attractive form of what I believe is Cotyledon orbiculata var. orbiculata in the wild near Oudtshoorn. All the plants I found were slightly infested with lice. The seed capsules are rather small as compared to the nearby growing  Cotyledon orbiculata var. spuria . The corolla tube is less then 10 mm in length. Harvesting of the seed was done long after the capsules had ripened, producing little seed. With the seed being almost invisible, even with magnifying glasses. Seed will not be without other capsule debris included. We do however guarantee a minimum of 10 seeds per packet.

Although not photographed, the seed we have available has partly been taken from plants with very wide leaves. The corolla tube is about 18 to 20 mm long.

Aloe cooperi ssp.cooperi

Plants flowering in a garden in Sedgefield, Southern Cape. This is far away from their natural habitat in KwaZula -Natal and Mpumalanga. The plants are relatively easy to cultivate,  apparently withstanding even cold climates.
