Conophytum ficiforme - Worcester Patryskloof

The plants form large clumps on rocky outcroppings on the hillsides south of the Hexrivier mountain range.

Flowering in May

The flower colour is pink to white.

Conophytum burgeri

This species is rare in nature and only known from one location in the Aggeneys district in the  Northern Cape Province,

Plants are regarded as relatively difficult in cultivation, but if they are given very good drainage and receive water sparingly the success rate is quite good.

Plants rest in summer and should then only receive water when starting to shrivel.

Cultivated seed grown plants in flower.

There are only a few seedlings  available at this time which will be sold on  Plant Auction occasionally.

Conophytum truncatum ssp. truncatum var. wiggettiae

Conophytum truncatum ssp. truncatum var. wiggettiae grows naturally in the vicinity of De Rust, Dysselsdorp and also Calitzdorp.

In the De Rust and Dysselsdorp areas the plants prefer hills made of enon comglomerate, often with a reddish colour. 

The plants themselves have a reddish tint and multiple papillae on the surface. Seedlings  grown in shade often lack the reddish colour until exposed to more sunlight.

The plants however avoid full day sun by growing mostly on the southern or south eastern slope of a hill.

Labeled as Conophytum verrucosum by the collector. Originally from Samole or Saride - label unclear.

Conophytum ficiforme

Plant originating from the Worcester district.

Conophytum truncatum spp. truncatum

An attractive form from near Oudtshoorn.

The petals often have an untidy arrangement and the flowers do not completely open.
