The name 'Bandele' is of African origin and means 'Born away from home' . In refers to this Haworthia in the sense that its origin is uncertain. It was created by Gerhard Marx but the parentage was unsure. It later appeared to be a descendant of Haworthia 'Gothlet' which includes 'pulchella'.
