Haworthia kogmanensis occurs in the Kogmanskloof between Montagu and Ashton where it often nestles in cracks in the rocks. It has an affinity towards Haworthia arachnoidea and its relatives but is also notably different. The flowering time of around November and December is similar to that of Haworthia arachnoidea.
The approach to use different species names for related but unique populations is perhaps the only sensible way forward in this complex genus as it should aid communication, illustrate diversity, and promote conservation.
The use of higher rank aggregates by Ingo Breuer is a good start to maintain an orderly grouping of the species.
